How to Create the Perfect At Home Spa Day

Sharing is caring!

Girls’ have such the hard life and sometimes we forget to take a day for ourselves to just relax. We’re always taking care of someone else or worrying about someone else’s problem. Girl it’s time to take care of yourself and it starts with making a conscious decision to relax.

I know I’m the worst person when it comes to relaxing; I always feel like I have to be on-the-go all the time. But that’s not healthy at all so don’t be like me. Take a break, do your favorite activity, and smile more often, which is what I’ll be doing all summer long! In my sense of appreciation for relaxing, I created the perfect recipe for creating the perfect at home spa day that you can recreate any day of the week that you need to, and not spend a fortune at the salon. Girls got to keep on a budget too!

At Home Spa Day

Set the Mood

First step to create the perfect at home spa day is to set the mood, preferably a relaxing vibe full of your favorites. And what’s the perfect way to set the mood? Your favorite music playlist, of course! My favorite type of music is R&B, pop, and rap, but for a more relaxing vibe I like to listen to John Legend, Meghan Trainor, and SoMo. To really create the perfect setting for a spa is to play your music via a speaker. My favorite speaker at the moment is the JBL Charge 3 waterproof speaker. It’s definitely the speaker I’ve never had and they have some really fun colors. The JBL Charge 3 speaker is waterproof, a stylish design, incredibly loud, and the charge lasts all day without needing a charge. It’s also great to take on a beach trip or on vacation.

I recently created a whole post on my summer 2017 music playlist to give you some inspiration for your own playlist! Click the link here to see mine.

Create a Refreshing Drink

If you’ve ever been to a spa, then you would know that they always have a refreshing drink to help keep you hydrated as you relax. So for a perfect DIY spa day, it’s time to create your very own refreshing drink. I highly recommend getting a pitcher full of cold water and fill it with some of your favorite things, such as mint leaves, cut up strawberries, or some slices of lemon.

Having a nice cool drink while you relax allows you to keep hydrate as well as helps relax the inside of your body as you relax the outside of it.

Bath Bombs

My favorite part about taking a bath is being able to use some of my favorite bath bombs. I’m obsessed with the ones from Lush & Target, but you can find some great one from Amazon too. Bath bombs are such a fun explosive blast of colors and create a wonderful base to create a perfect at home spa day.

But sometimes bath bombs can leave a mess after using them like if product leaves a residue in your bath tub, so the other option that’s just as great is to take a bubble bath. You have to admit that when you were a kid bubble baths were amazing and they totally still are as an adult.

Spa Day Essentials

Masks: The Face & Foot Kind

If you know me in real life, I’m starting to get a little obsessed with face masks, especially the charcoal or hydrating kind. I have acne-prone skin with some pigmentation from my high school years. Face masks allow me to give my skin a little TLC that needs after a stressful school year, plus it helps bring back moisture and take out all of the junk out of my face. My favorite masks are the Glamglow Super-Clearing mud mask treatment and the sheet masks that I find at Target.

Now the foot soaks are a total game changer! I’m a part of the Influenster program, which is an app that you review different items for free and get sent items in Voxbox for free so that you can test them out. In the last Voxbox that I received, I got sent the 7th Heaven Foot Soak/ Foot Lotion duo. I was really skeptical of this product, but once I tried it once, I fell in love with it. For one, it’s really cheap and it makes your feet feel really soft. I wrote a post recently that describes in detail in how I get free products for free and how you can too by clicking here.

All you have to do is fill a tub full of semi-hot water, then pour the foot soak into the water. Once the product is fully mixed into the water, place both of your feet and relax for 15-30 minutes. After you soak your feet, you can then dry them off and apply the foot lotion for the last step in the process. If you’ve tried this product, leave a comment below. I need to stock up on a few and try some different brands for the upcoming school year.

Snack & A Book

The final step to create the perfect spa day at your home is to grab a snack and your favorite book! That way you can soak in your bath bomb filled tub while also enjoying a snack and a great read. I used to read a ton of books a few years ago, but with school, I don’t have as much time to just read for fun. I would love to get into it again. My favorite snacks to eat in the tub are gummies (I’m weird I guess), some apples and peanut butter, or some puffy Cheetos. Okay so not the healthiest recommendations, but they are yummy!

That comes to the end of my step by step guide all of the things that I like to do to create a at-home spa day! Everyone needs to take some time for themselves to just sit, relax, and do something that they really enjoy. My top favorite activity to relax is to eat some ice cream while watching the latest tv show or movie that I love. What are your favorite activities and what are your at-home spa day essentials? Leave them in the comments below! At the bottom of the post, I included a list of all of the items that I mentioned in this post for easy access to you or you can click the different links through out the post. Enjoy!
