My favorite part about heading back to school is the opportunity to go back to school shopping. As you can tell from my blog, I love shopping, and I’m obsessed with trying out new trends. You only live once right? This fall season, I’ve been noticing that the 90s vibe is coming back in style! I’m talking plaid skirts, oversized denim jackets, platform shoes, and anything neon. Since I’m in my last year of pharmacy school, I’ll be completing my 9 pharmacy rotations instead of heading back to campus. But don’t let this post fool you, I’ll be rocking my platform sneakers and plaid dress on the weekends and any time that I’m having fun instead.

H&M’s new 90s nostalgic collection is perfect to rock this back to school season if you want to test the waters of the 90s trends. They have some great pieces that are affordable and trendy. Plus you can’t beat the quality for the prices! In this blog post, I’m going to be showing you how I style some of the classic pieces from the collection in a modern twist. All of the pieces that I ordered online were true to size!

Outfit #1: Friends Tee + Plaid Mini Skirt

As a pear-shaped girl, I don’t normally go for miniskirts, especially the kind that are bodycon. I don’t normally find them flattering at all, but when I found this skirt online, I knew I had to have it. It’s a classic print and beautifully made. The best part is that I felt amazing when I wore this skirt! The shape of the skirt actually has a curve to it, making it literally perfection for a girl with curves like myself. For this look, I paired the skirt with this fun T-shirt from H&M that has the Friends logo across the front. If you’ve never heard of Friends before, it’s a classic 90s sitcom and the logo has become somewhat of a classic statement.

Outfit #2: Floral Flowy Dress

A floral dress is a classic piece from the 90s, and it’s super simple to style for an easy back to school look. I love wearing dresses to college classes, especially early morning ones or when I’m running late to school. You can easily throw a cute dress on and pair it with your favorite sneakers or sandals for a quick easy outfit. It’s a look without trying too hard!

Outfit #3: Corduroy Jacket + Plaid Mini Skirt 

This skirt is the same skirt from the first outfit, but I loved it so much that I had to style it in a different way for you. I love a versatile piece in college. Typically, dorm room closets are super tiny so anything that I can style in more than one way is a bonus in my books. For this look, I paired the plaid skirt with a plain white tee with my favorite pink corduroy jacket (all from H&M). Most classrooms on campus are iceberg freezing so I always like to keep a jacket in my backpack, just in case I need something to cover my arms. This corduroy one is super soft and comfortable while also being incredibly cute.

Outfit #4: Oversized Denim Jacket + Plaid Bodycon Dress

One of my favorite pieces from the H&M Clueless Collection is this plaid bodycon dress. It just screams 90s to me, but the shape of the dress makes it more modern. This dress is pretty thick, so it would be perfect for the fall/winter season paired with some cute boots. I ended up pairing this outfit with an oversized denim jacket and some black Chelsea boots for an easy back to school look. Like I said before, you always need a cute jacket to throw on when you’re sitting in a freezing classroom. This denim jacket is literally the perfect oversized look that you could ask for. I’m obsessed with the jacket, and it’s a definite must-have if you’re looking for a good quality denim jacket for the fall season.

The Good, The Bad, and My Thoughts

When I first looked on the Fenty savage website, I noticed immediately that Rihanna really focused on being sexy with a modern twist. I really like that the bras look really cute underneath literally underneath anything and that you can wear them on an everyday basis, even the wilder designs. So, what’s the real tea about the line?

The real tea is that it’s exactly what you would expect from Rihanna, which is quality products with stunning packaging. When my box arrived in the mail, each piece was individually wrapped, and my box felt personalized. This line thrives on being inclusive for all types of women and that’s easy to see on the website. You can see plus size models, thin models, and different shades of skin colors. They are also size-inclusive and offer bra sizes up to 42H, which I didn’t even know that was a real size before looking on the Fenty Savage website.

All of the pieces that I picked up were really great quality and fit just as I had imagined that they would be. The lace on all of the bras is very soft and super comfortable. The lace isn’t itchy at all, like most other brands that I’ve tried in the past. Like I mentioned before, I hate when my nipples show through my bras and I rarely ever have that issue with these ones, especially considering they’re unlined. 

My only dislike, which is really more of a preference, is that there is a VIP membership. The VIP membership is $49.95 each month, which gives you free shipping and returns over $49, special VIP pricing, and access to VIP-only bundles and sets. You basically get sucker-punched

Haul

When I first started wearing bras in middle school, I always went for a padded bra because that’s what made me comfortable. But when Rihanna launched her collection, I knew I wanted to pick pieces outside of my comfort zone. I wanted to feel fearless and confident in my choices.  Hence the reason all of the bras that I picked up were unlined, and I’m kinda obsessed now with unlined bras.

The first bra that I added to my cart was the Unlined Lace Bra in the color Brown. It’s the perfect choice for a casual, sexy vibe while still getting that support that you need for the girls. I ordered the brown color because I wanted to pick up a neutral color that I could wear under lighter shirts.

My second pick was the Mesh and Lace Bra in the color Cold. I’m obsessed with the color blue and this one is actually perfect. It’s an icy blue color with a sheer panel insert in the straps. The best part about this bra is that the straps are little wider, so it gives a lot of support while being insanely cute.

You’ve probably seen this bra all over social media because it was a show-stopper in the fashion show that Rihanna held for Fenty Savage. It’s the Unlined Leopard Lace Bra in the color Electric Blu. I loved the color and style of this bra so much that I even picked up the matching underwear to make it a set.

My final pick for this haul is the Unlined Microfiber Bra in the color Desert. I really wanted an unlined plain bra that would match my skin color and would be almost invisible on the skin. This material is so soft and comfortable it’s insane. The material just smooths out everything and is pretty seamless.

Are you ready to hear the tea on Shein from an unbiased truth from a broke college student just trying to look fashionable on a budget?

First off when I clicked onto the website, the layout has clean categories and layout, but it was a tad bit busy with all of the sale signs. Once you click on a category, the website was very crispy and clear on the items. It’s stepped up very similarly to Forever21’s and GS-Love’s home pages. I love that on each item there is a size chart that you can use to guide you on sizing of each individual piece. Shein is an Asian-based website, but when I ordered, I found each item to be true to size and good quality. I ordered three items from Shein: a tribal print off-the-shoulder top, a flowy leaf dress, and a tassel crossbody bag.

I love the summer time heat because I get to wear shorts and off-the shoulder tops, which is why I’m loving that they came back in style this season. I saw this top on the Shein website, and I absolutely fell in love with the design! Once my items arrived, I noticed that the top was a tad bit thin, but what can you expect when you order an item that is mainly white? Otherwise, the item fitted perfectly in length and wasn’t too tight across my arms.

Flowy Leaf Dress ($15.00-click here to purchase!)

This has to be my favorite purchase from my order. I’m literally obsessed with it and I was so shocked on how great quality that item is. My biggest worry with purchasing this dress was the fit and the sheerness of the item, since it’s white. Not to fret though because the dress fit perfectly and was even double lined so you can’t see anything through the material! The straps aren’t adjustable, but they are the perfect length on me.  Definitely a must purchase, if you love this item as much as I do! Its such a versatile piece that you can dress it up or down with a pair of heels or some sandals and a jean jacket. For reference, I am 5’1” and the dress comes to a little above my knees, so if you’re taller than me, then this dress might be a little short on you.

Tassel Crossbody Bag ($21.15-click here to purchase!)

I’m not the one who usually carries a purse and if I do, it’s typically a large purse. It’s almost like I feel like I have to make up for my small size with a larger handbag to balance the look. But I’m loving tassels for the summer time and this purse just screamed me, so of course I had to get it. It’s pretty good quality for the price and the strap is adjustable so that you can change the length as you please.

Shipping: My order came in about a week after ordering and the processing time.

Final Thoughts

For the super low prices and pretty quick shipping, you really can’t beat the deals that you can find on Shein. It’s a great website to try out new trends or different styles you wouldn’t normally buy in-stores! I was really impressed with my first order from Shein, especially since I had such low hopes for the quality of the items I bought. The best tip that I can give you when ordering from Shein is to use the size measurements as a guide to decide what you size you’ll need (it’s really accurate!) and to check out the reviews/photos for each item. You can learn a lot by reading the reviews and seeing how the piece looks on different body types, or at least that’s really helpful for me when I’m shopping online.
