Memories are super important to me. Over the years, I’ve gradually collected a closet full of old t-shirts filled with memories of my high school and college days. I always knew that I wanted to use them in some way so that I can could preserve the memories while saving the planet. A few months ago, I had seen a picture of a t-shirt quilt and from that moment onward, I knew that that’s what I wanted to do with my old shirts that I no longer wear anymore. It’s such a unique idea that I’ve been obsessed with the idea ever since! So today I’m teaming up with MemoryStitch to show you the final product of my t-shirt quilt and how easy the process is.

MemoryStitch is an online quilt making company that takes your old shirts and sews them into a comfy, well-designed quilt. With this process, you can let them design your quilt or you can tell them in what order you want your shirts placed, if you have a particular order that you want.

The first step to making a t-shirt quilt is actually picking the shirts that you want to use! I recommend picking a theme for your quilt so that all of your shirts correlate with each other. You could do all of your favorite sports teams, your travel destinations, or all of your favorite memories of someone, just to name a few examples. I chose to use the shirts that I had collected over the years, from high school to now (aka my college days).  It was a perfect way for me to clear out some space in my closet and utilize some of my favorite memories throughout school.

Once you pick out the shirts that you want to use, you can now either choose to cut up your shirts yourself or let MemoryStitch do the work for you. This part is super simple! All that you have to do is cut your shirts in half, place the side that you want to use in a box, and ship everything to MemoryStitch. You can also choose to continue the shirt quilt design on the back of the quilt or pick a fleece color instead. I didn’t have as many t-shirts as I thought I did so I decided to go with the royal blue fleece color for the back of my quilt.

I love that my quilt is unique to me and holds some of my fondest memories all in one bundle of joy. It’s been a great way for me to preserve my memories while also giving my shirts a new purpose. Honestly the quality of my quilt is so bomb that I might have to get a few more made for friends and family members. They’re that good guys!
